If Ponzi Schemes are criminal then empires should be in jail without parole for countless millennia, because all they do is suck up the small man’s inputs and concentrate all the good stuff with the big guy.
Empires have always been about exploitation, since long before Ancient Egypt even to this day. What kind of mind drew up the idea of the first army? How did they manage to convince thinking men to form armies and attack strangers? Hint: they were manipulative and cunning.
Empires were so brutal back in the day that, for example, it took ten divine plagues and an entire army drowning along with its king just to secure the eventual release Egypt’s slaves. Sorta shows me how much was at stake in maintaining the imperial labor force. And the only way to profit from such a demoralized labor force would have been to suck them dry, sweat them out, not to give them the ballot. Today’s empires faithfully follow format: drain the workers' joy, drown their hopes, give them a regular compromised ballot, distract and disorient them with mass media, blind them to their own slavery.
The police was and remains a good idea though, when it works. It keeps society’s order, our collective basic backbone, alive. It preserves peace and apprehends suspects. But then the wrong kind of people appear in Parliament to write the laws. That is, people who “protecting life and property” interprets in their heads as “protecting property from low-lives”. Because this is their leader’s default perspective, the followers (citizens) and enforcers (cops) also begin to breathe in the infectious intellectual corruption. The blind leading the blind both fall into a ditch. And we all suffer, because society becomes ridiculous from that point onwards.
The empire’s law is the empire’s interest, both in intent and in practice. It is a de facto legalized Ponzi Scheme. The law is an ass, they say, but it’s authors must take the blame for it, not take leisurely rides on it!
Empire survive to this day; don’t let the flapping in the breeze of hundreds of flags confuse you. In international fora, ceremonial leaders exchange long speeches , worry many superficial worries and eventually go back to their imperial postings. East or West, it matters little which way we vote while exploitation is the deal. Which hyena do you expect will crunch your bones better?
The socially stratospheric geostrategic-minded jousters behind all this are glad to spend the rest of their days sparring for control, for power – after all, they have the footsoldiers to wage their proxy wars. It’s like a mere chess game for all the impact it makes to their individual lives. Pride is at stake. Deaths and debilitations must be mentioned under miscellaneous statistics as collateral damage.
Recognize empires then, that their system of wealth remains constant throughout history, with an upper-class that is practically untouchable for the most part, and so far removed by circumstance from the lower classes that they are literally worshipped. It takes a certain cold and calculated kind of thinking to maintain any such system and hide it behind whatever ideology. It takes a certain strength of delusion to close one’s eyes to consequence and to narrow focus on the benefits to be reaped from bloodsucking.
Remember Ancient Babylon, in which Emperor Nebudchadnezzar felt so good about his self-built capital city that he fell to pride and bragging. Yet he confessed one hard-learnt lesson eventually: “The LORD rules over the affairs of men.”
From the book of Daniel:
See your empires and consider this: could they stand judgment?

From the book of Daniel:
{ 4:34} And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth forever, whose dominion [is] an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom [is] from generation to generation:
{4:35} And all the inhabitants of the earth [are] reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and [among] the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
{4:36} At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.
{4:37} Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works [are] truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
See your empires and consider this: could they stand judgment?
